Unboxing Maftei Navvy Made of Pin Grain Leather

Maftei really loves the Navvy style, maybe just like Jesper said, Central European shoes are sturdy and durable, so favour Norwegian construction and split toe.

Maftei has the same concept of leather in this style, from shell cordovan to buffalo to suede, and then to the grained leather today.

Last

Alexandru last is very elegant on Oxford, and especially on Cap Toe, but on this split toe derby, it’s too pointy.

Pattern

This pair is Blucher to be exact.

This L-shaped ear is the standard.

360-degree Norwegian seam is a traditional element of Navvy style. The apron is quite rough, and I think it is the least beautiful apron, however, it is indeed the very traditional apron design.

When I appreciate the fineness of the production, I have a better impression of the look.

Leather

Pin grain is not my favourite leather because it is rough and not rough enough.

Outsole

This sole once again reflects the philosophy of the Central European shoemaker, where pragmatism prevails over refinement. It’s a leather sole, but the forefoot and heel are officially covered by Vibram rubber sole.

Details

The details of this pair of shoes are very good, and it is a label for Maftei shoes, that is, the color of the whole shoe is consistent. You can see the color of the leather, the color of the laces, the color of the leather edging, and the color of the inside, all are burgundy.

Summary

Navvy is the most rough and durable style, accompanied with rough leather, Norwegian construction, square flat soles, and rubber forefeet.

The handmade details and the full color of the shoes gave me a lot of inspiration.
