Johnny Works is a Chinese shoemaker used to make work boots, and in last two years entered dress shoes field. Unlike many shoemakers which only focus manufacturing new shoes, Johnny Works provides extensive maintenance service, and got a nickname, “Value Plate King” because of its wonderful price for toe plate installment.
This pair of Alden 563 is so iconic and well loved. And it is very comfortable.
Stitches worn out as well.
To be fair, I think it can be worn for a reasonable duration still, but a resole would make it much more pristine.
Sole touches very thin.
Toe tip is almost gone. Shoe lovers all notice the toe tip wears very fast, however it reaches a platform and the wear does not proceed too much anymore.
Because I tried toe plate installment service from Johnny Works and was very satisfied, I entrusted this resole to Johnny Works again for 440 RMB.
This is when they are back! Quite neat and looks very new, of course I don’t mean the upper.
Stitches are neat, density is good.
Channel is deep enough to host stitches.
Although the welt is quite alike Alden, however it is so wide on this pair of tassle loafers.
The feeling is like this rack.
What makes Alden a little better is they seem to have fudge.
Conclusion
Wonderful price and I can have this pair of workhorses to service for at least 3 more years.
