I made an exclusive interview with Chen Bo, the founder of Artisan Bobo, and then unpacked a pair of Greek loafers developed by Brother Qi. As I mentioned, I learned about this brand late, but when I first saw it, I found that its products were very distinctive, which made me shine. So what’s the unique method?
Artisan Bobo is first of all a “customized” brand, that is, a brand that can come to map or design and develop shoes together. Then he also has a lot of conventional styles. Finally, it is precisely the four retro shoes that really let everyone choose it: Grecian Slippers, Button Boots, Opera Pumps and Spats.

Button Boots
I first came into contact with the American brand J.Fitzpatrick. In the past few decades, there are only a handful of brands offering this shoe, not to mention custom shoemakers, and absolutely no more than five.
Button-breasted boots are popular in Victorian gentleman’s shoes, which have long been forgotten in history. The main reason is that the shoes are very troublesome to put on and take off, and there is a high probability that the housekeeper is needed to help wear them.
This splicing with tweed is a pioneering work of J.Fitzpatrick, not a fundamentalism.
Black was the default color of shoes at that time.
This pair is my favorite, no matter in vamp design or color matching.
Opera Pump
Banquet shoes are somewhat similar to smoking shoes. They are loafers with a lot of instep exposed, but the difference is that smoking shoes like to use fabrics instead of leather, and they will also be decorated with some stitches. Banquet shoes default to black patent leather. Party shoes are more feminine than smoking shoes, and there is a bow, which can be considered as the symbol of party shoes.
The size and shape of butterflies come in various forms.
It is also a place where everyone can be creative and personalized.
Replacing it with suede material will greatly reduce the banquet attribute and increase the home attribute.
The hemming of the shoe mouth is one of the essences.
Spats
This has completely entered the deep water area of retro lovers. It is not a deep player. First of all, I don’t know this thing. Secondly, it is not even a shoe, but should be counted as an accessory for shoes.
Spats are used to block dirt and rain, and not directly to the upper. It can be regarded as a raincoat or cloak for leather shoes.
If you want to talk about function, even today, it is still valid, but the leather bottom of leather shoes may be more afraid of rainy days than the upper.
The most classic and original shoe covers are of course white.
The installation method is that a band similar to Monk passes through the waist of the sole and then buckles it.
So even if there are a lot of buttons on it, it doesn’t need to be as troublesome as wearing button boots.
Dove grey is also a very traditional British color.
