Speaking of several well-known welted shoe brands in China, they are Mattina, Yearn Shoemaker, Oct Tenth (if you are still used to calling it TGC, you can, but the proprietress should hope you remember her birthday) and Acme. In fact, Gulun and Cie shouldn’t be underestimated volume wise.

The long history of classic dress shoes has resulted in classic/core styles from many of the longer surviving brands, and anyone with some knowledge and love of dress shoes can rattle off many, many style names.
However, I think there is only one brand that has done the best job of emphasising its brand identity on upper design, and I would give it an analogy with the familial front (design) of the automotive industry.
That is Edward Green.

I thought this because a friend told me that if someone had a budget of more than 10,000 RMB to buy a pair of shoes, he would normally choose John Lobb over Maftei. I think that’s exactly right. What I remark right is not only referring to this phenomenon, but also to this consumption choice.
