ACME may be the most well known Chinese shoemaker/brand in the world, and it is the private label of select shoe shop Medallion. ACME is highly praised for its superb craftsmanship, and even the best shoe blogger, Jesper Ingevaldsson told me he is so eager to pay a visit to ACME workshop if he comes to China.

I have unboxed this pair here, and this post mainly focuses on experience. Yearn Shoemaker is known by SLIMSHOES domestically in China. The concept is better reflected by the latter one as it wants to accommodate Asian wider feet without sacrificing slim and elegant feeling of dress shoes. Later on, I found they are also very fond of hand patina which I am not a fan of. Yearn Shoemaker is a price killer as it offers handwelted construction plus handstitched outsole for only 400 USD.

Cie was talked several times by me, it is the real pioneer of dress shoes with Blake and Goodyear constructions in China. However, it never targeted shoe enthusiasts. I think this is a good question why with same construction, some brands are loved by seasoned consumers while others not. Is it because of price? Certainly not. Most Italian shoes are very expensive no matter what the construction they are. In my opinion, it is its targeted customers which decides its marketing and products. For those who don’t know shoes very well, the best selling point is eye cathcy, otherwise, why should I buy from you? But for enthusiasts, even not value, it is the exquisite aesthetics which encourages impulsive purchase.

SLIMSHOES is the domestic brand of Yearn Shoemaker which is more well known globally. Unlike most shoemakers in this niche market, SLIMSHOES opened mono-brand boutique since the beginning. Two shops locate in premium department stores.

Loafers have very extreme inclinations, one side feels loafers are slipper and should only be worn inhouse, the other says loafer is stylish and combines with every outfit effortlessly. In China, loafers gain unmatchable position as No. 1 for its convenience, so every brand has to release loafers no matter they like it or not.
