In shoe aficionados’ eyes, John Lobb or Edward Green may be the best English shoes, but in American’s eyes, or for most outsider of this circle, Church’s is the best.
The reasons are different, for American, Church’s is the first one they can see in the US as early as 1920s. And for fashion consumers, Church’s belongs to Prada.

As a well-rooted shoe brand in London with a long history, it’s really embarrassing that its reputation is so dim. I can draw a conclusion that if you choose to go down, then your ending can be predicted when you take the first step. If you choose to go up, in the short term, your profit and scale are not as good as those who choose to go down, but you will always be the brand that people yearn for.

The desert boots are the second pair of boots for men right after Chelsea boots. Under today’s wave of casualization, the more relaxed desert boots are more suitable for overall outfits, and the shoes themselves will not give people the delicate and sharp feeling of Chelsea when viewed separately.

Church’s is a pathetic brand in the classic dress shoe community because it is so despised for its unreasonable price and pitiful bookbinder leather under the Prada Group. As a shoe brand in England with wonderful heritage, Church’s now has many shoes made in Italy and with Blake Construction we can find it how funny.
Chetwynd is one of the best sellers from Church’s and I own another pair but in box calf. I came to realize why Chetwynd is so popular among Church’s fans, because it is the best known and seen full brogue model.
I feel Church’s fans are more fond of its glorious old days other than the model itself and that is the reason why I have this one. I have never been a fan of Church’s as when I knew it, it had been acquired by Prada and polished leather shoes are how people think of Church’s. But the great shoe collector, Sevan Misasian told that he had one pair of suede Chetwynd for 30 years! In service not on shelf! That was a real killer!

Every time when the community talks about Church’s, the words are quite intense.
Every time I glance at some forums especially made of very experienced connoisseur, Church’s are highly praised, but only for its shoes long time ago.
It is so interesting that a same brand can have two extreme comments and both valid. I personally owns several pairs and I can confess they are not bad, but not so good for the price. Of course, I never bought the shit made in Italy named English Shoes.
