When talk about premium tanneries, most shoe lovers call the name of Annonay and Du Puy, both French tanneries belong to Hermes Group.
The second tier (fame wise, not quality) would be the English ones, Charles F. Stead and J.F.Baker, the former one focuses on suede and kudu leather, and latter oak bark veg tanned sole and replica Russian deerskin.
Then it is the big amount of Italian tanneries and several French ones. The most famous Italian ones should be Museum calf inventor Ilcea and crust leather provider Bounado.

A Special Order of CIE Shoes
Cie was talked several times by me, it is the real pioneer of dress shoes with Blake and Goodyear constructions in China. However, it never targeted shoe enthusiasts. I think this is a good question why with same construction, some brands are loved by seasoned consumers while others not. Is it because of price? Certainly not. Most Italian shoes are very expensive no matter what the construction they are. In my opinion, it is its targeted customers which decides its marketing and products. For those who don’t know shoes very well, the best selling point is eye cathcy, otherwise, why should I buy from you? But for enthusiasts, even not value, it is the exquisite aesthetics which encourages impulsive purchase.

My Shoe Collection – Edwin from Carlos Santos
I am not so fond of loafers as they are too casual in my eyes ( who loves to wear suits!), but summer is clearly the season for loafers because my favorite blakc cap toe oxford just cannot play well with the climate and feeling, It makes me an unwelcomed customer in an amusement park.
Before this pair, only the Alden 563 is my workhorse.
Loafers are so loved because of its convenience, but for me, the chic feeling and lovely colour are the key.
