FU Jie is the founder of the SLIMSHOES brand, which was established in 2018.
SLIMSHOES/Yearn Shoemaker is a brand based in Chengdu, At present, there are two physical stores in Chengdu, and there are also online stores on Taobao. The UK haberdashery Arterton is carrying them to showcase to discerning customers in Europe.
Main players of handmade shoes in China are from Guangzhou and Shanghai (both are regions, not necessarily in this city), and as the strongest consumption city in the west, Chengdu has its own, which is reasonable.

I have unboxed this pair here, and this post mainly focuses on experience. Yearn Shoemaker is known by SLIMSHOES domestically in China. The concept is better reflected by the latter one as it wants to accommodate Asian wider feet without sacrificing slim and elegant feeling of dress shoes. Later on, I found they are also very fond of hand patina which I am not a fan of. Yearn Shoemaker is a price killer as it offers handwelted construction plus handstitched outsole for only 400 USD.

Yearn Shoemaker has gained a lot of attention globally because of its handmade specification and retailer in UK, Arterton. In China, Yearn Shoemaker uses the brand SLIMSHOES to emphasize their shoes are slim looking while generous in fitting. In my opinion, what sets Yearn Shoemaker apart is not that they are handwelted and handstitched, but the very aggressive lasts. The impact is stunning.
Yearn Shoemaker/SLIMSHOES has a big advantage over other brands in this niche markets, it has three mono-brand boutiques in Chengdu.

SLIMSHOES is the domestic brand of Yearn Shoemaker which is more well known globally. Unlike most shoemakers in this niche market, SLIMSHOES opened mono-brand boutique since the beginning. Two shops locate in premium department stores.
