fp is a new shoemaker from China founded by FU Pei, this is the first time we review its shoes.

Unboxing

The outer packaging is SF express parcel box, but it is cut to fit the shoebox, so the gap between SF parcel box and shoe box is small, and then it is filled with a little buffer foam.

Compared with the packaging of Thom Wills, there is really a big gap.

Black shoe box, silver logo in the middle, luxury is felt.

In the corner of the shoe box, there is a sticker with the information of shoe style, color, leather, size and last. Although the information is enough, this presentation is poor, and it has nothing to do with handmade.

Open the lid of the shoe box, which contains a pair of shoes in separate shoe bags. There is a feeling that the shoe box is too big and the shoes are a little empty in it.

But because my pair is UK4.5, if the shoes are UK9 or even UK10, the space won’t be oversize. So this is really not easy to blame.

Shoe bag is undoubtedly the highlight, because it is very thick! if you think about shoe bag’s functions, I think the first is to protect the shoes, and it is enough to put it in the shoe cabinet to prevent dust.

With such a label of 100% organic cotton, the texture also gives a natural and rough feeling.

The mouth of the bag is very tight, and everything makes people feel that the shoes are well protected.

Take out the shoes, which are stuffed with black paper balls.

Although this is the default operation, why is it necessary? This paper ball plays a supporting role, but it is not so necessary when shoes are well protected and stored in a shoe box.

I have a point of view that consumers should get pleasure and enjoyment from anything they got from a brand. If a part/component can’t provide this joy, then simply cancel it.

Last

As soon as the shoes are taken out, anyone will be shocked by this banana last. It is really unique.

Pattern

A pair of penny loafer looks ordinary at first glance, and there is not much design to speak of.

The core lies in the hole in the penny strip, the echo or harmony with the shape of the shoe last and apron area. Take a rounded and slender middle state.

Then it must be the sewing method of this apron area, Pie Crust.

Objectively speaking, is it the most beautiful way to sew uppers? I don’t think so, but it is rarer, and it is the iconic element of Edward Green, which makes it sought after.

The heel is one line stitching. Although it is not my favorite design, it is much more common than dogtail in love. The main reason is that there is a circle around the ankle, and it is impossible to make a dogtail.

But is this a place that can be innovated or realized?

Construction

The stitch density is high, threads are very close to the upper and stable. The quality is superb.

This indentation along the welt is very essence, which is the key to the exquisiteness and high-grade feeling of shoes.

Inside the waist, you can also see the fine stitches inside, and at the same time the waist is almost “blind”, which really surprised me.

What is more exaggerated is that the outer side really realizes the blind waist! How did this happen? I’m curious.

Outsole

Primary colour sole, banana last is eye-catching again. The small rubber piece in the heel also tells the story of advanced and exquisite. A circle of indentation on the edge of the heel is an extremely high-end aesthetic experience.

fp flaunts itself with London Waist, but the waist doesn’t feel that way.

If the London waist is a bevelled waist, this element is there, but the transition at the edge is not done.

Leather

Weinheimer black boxcalf, the crease looks very delicate, but it still seems to have a thin film. It may be more appropriate to evaluate the crease performance after a period of time. Now we only know that the basic quality is very high.

Heel lasting

This is the point that I have been particularly concerned about, that is, whether there is an obvious step in the transition from the heel of the upper to the heel of the sole. The less, the smoother and more exquisite the shoes are.

The level of fp pair is very satisfactory.

Details

On the lining, the style, size and last type of shoes are written. Compared with the label information on the shoe box, there is less color and leather, but it is enough. The color and leather are easy to judge when you see shoes, even for people who don’t know the brand.

Logo gives people a general feeling, which is not deep enough, and the size is not sure whether it is the perfect answer. Or is it too simple?

Some small holes in the midsole of vegetable tanned leather are nail holes that fix the edge of leather when stretching the last by hand.

Fit

It’s a little difficult to put it on, because it seems that the mouth of the shoe is relatively small, but after putting it on, it is completely zero-running. This should be the magic of banana last.

Comparison

Because after I put on my feet, I felt that this shoe was particularly delicate and small, so I compared it with the loafers that I wear most frequently and do more at present, and the result made me even more shocked.

Can you believe that the size of the two pairs is the same, and the fit of the two pairs is the same for me, but the outline is so different! Not only the length, but also the width. The foot tolerance and inner space of fp’s FU last are simply magic!

This also brings me to think that if a person whose feet are out of proportion to his height, such as a person who is not tall but has big feet, he will like this shoe very much, but if he is a person who is very tall but has small feet, this shoe is super inappropriate.

Summary

Three amazing points, banana last, shoe quality, shoe bag. This is a real high-grade sewing leather shoes.
