Unboxing David from J.FitzPatrick

David is the best seller and most sought after model from J.FitzPatrick in China, everytime it was stocked people came to buy and left odd sizes on the shelf. Why is it so popular? Let us have a look.

Unboxing

A watermelon red shoe box, very iconic and unique in the market.

Read the sticker on the side of shoe box, model name David, Internal serial number 12906, Last LPB, a square toe. Width F, or EE. The colour is Walnut Museum plus Gold tweed.

Tweed on the upper, great design, isn’t it?

J.FitzPatrick writes size in three systems, UK, US and EU that is very comprehensive.

Pattern

In short, a pair of Balmoral boots, but all the details around the shoes make them very flashy and trendy. The collision between very traditional and conservative boots with the interesting texture and combination of fabric and leather is so amazing.

Brogue perforation is big, and the medallion seems strange which both make the most constrained Balmoral boots more vivid.

For shoes, the first sight should catch your eyes and heart, then fit gives you comfortable and a lot of wears, in the end, they should bring your joy.

The leather is gold museum, I think its popularity comes from its colour and leather for sure.

The hooks on the top of eyelets are relatively old, or I should say sporting elements seen on mounting shoes.

All these elements make me think Justin (the founder and shoemaker behind J.FitzPatrick) very original and hugely tasteful.

From the profile, to be strict, it cannot be called a Balmoral as the line from throat to heal is not straight but with the iconic curve of the brand logo of J.FitzPatrick.

Last

Everyone knows I am a fan of classic round toe, and last TMG of JFP is the comtemproray round toe which is most popular, but in my eyes, they are slightly narrow and seemingly sharp.

Later, I found last 8000 of John Lobb is great as the so called square toe actually feels round.

Another classic square toe is from George Cleverley, or more specifically square chisel toe from Anthony Cleverley. People like to talk about its chisel characteristic, but ignore it is a big square toe which gives strong power and authority.

Elongation without generous square toe, it becomes the sharp narrow toe of Gaziano & Girling. Generous roomy toe without elongation becomes the elders’ shoes from John Lobb St. James.

Last LPB of J.FitzPatrick is the compromised version of Square toe from George Cleverley, narrower toe shape with shorter at length, the power leaks but harmony keeps.

Outsole

Branded city rubber sole. The heel shape is wonderful with modern cyber punk feeling.

Conclusion

Tweed for Autumn and winter, if you don’t put them on your body, how about put them on your feet? Maybe it is more versatile and opens more ways to devise outfit.
