Model Archive – Bodileys

A shoe shop established in 1919, Northampton, the center of English Ready to Wear shoes, the business model is more like today’s Herring.

Bodileys is the first English shoe shop providing online ordering in 1990, very forward-looking.

It is not a family business now, and the current owner, Sarah Dudley which family used to own a shoe factory in Northampton.

Speaking about shoes, Bodileys initially used Crockett & Jones which was quite decent! However, they change suppliers and do not disclose who they are.

There are two lines, one is mainline, London Collection debuted in 2002, the other is premium line, Mayfair Collection in 2017. Both were developed and managed by John Garner, the former chief pattern maker in Edward Green.

Average price of Mayfair Collection is 400 GBP, and London Collection 330 GBP. It feels the difference is too tiny to use different materials or processes.

Let us have a review of its lineup. Two collections are combined.

Remark

It seems Mayfair Collection uses Grenson or Joseph Cheaney, and London Collection may have different vendors, some Barker I feel.

Pattern design is very conservative and austere, which is a reflextion of Edward Green.
