My Shoe Collection, Bourton from Tricker’s

There are many marketing tactics, most of them never tick me and even push me away from the brands, however, I can never reject one tactic which is heritage. In shoemaking, I think Tricker’s is second to none on heritage as it was founded in 1829, arguable the earliest one in England.

It holds Royal Warranty for decades and its iconic country shoes and boots. Recently, Tricker’s also releases its city-oriented shoes.

My pair is its most loved shoe model, Bourton, let us have a look.

Last

If I ask you what English lasts look like, you probably will say classic round toe. You are right, but how round is English? How about this one? What sets Tricker’s apart is this super big round toe.

Pattern

Bourton is the best seller from Tricker’s and technically it is a four eyelets short wing derby. When derby is mostly accepted in US, Tricker’s never attempted to attract them and this model is clearly and classically English as its perforation is predominant and traces directly back to how brogue was designed and what for.

Leather

Officially, this colour is simply tan, a very common colour on country shoes, while in China, I don’t know who gave it a much more romantic name, Sunset Yellow. The leather quality is too amazing and after severe wears, the creases are so fine.

Construction

Construction is not plain Goodyear welted, but Storm welted. Stitch density is just like Barker and Loake.

The welt joint is quite obvious.

Out Sole

As the very country shoe, this pair is equipped with double sole. from top to bottom, welt, middle layer leather sole and outer leather sole. You don’t need to worry about wear of sole, however, your muscle is hugely challenged.

Size

Size remark of Tricker’s is very unique. Take this one for example, the bottom line is size information. 6.5. Will you think it is UK6.5? Wrong. The size is UK6, and 5 is its width!

Details

How shoe tongue is attached to upper is also a special one.

Notice the shoe tongue has a curved edge.

That is because the edge is folded then stitched with upper!

For its heritage, great leather quality and iconic models, Tricker’s is a wonderful choice.
