My Shoe Collection, McAllister from Allen Edmonds

Many people may think I don’t like Allen Edmonds, while it may be true, but the extent can be discussed. In fact I appreciate Allen Edmonds a lot because it is the only left dress shoe brands in the US. I know there are others, but heritage wise, Allen Edmonds wins and stands alongside with Alden. While Alden is more famous and prestigious (price wise), its fans are more in workwear community.

I summarized Allen Edmonds models here, the amount is unbelievable, but the core models are always the several ones. McAllister is one of them.

Let us check this pair.

Last

I am not very sure how many lasts Allen Edmonds offers and which ones are most popular. This one features a very round toe which I love. Until someone pointed out to me, actually Amercian lasts are all somehow elongated, I came to realize.

Pattern

What makes McAllister classic, or core is the evolution of American iconic Longwing. The method is to make every elements bolder and bigger! The upper seems very busy and crowded, but hey, when you get used to it, they are not bad.

Leather

I have another pair of Allen Edmonds, Stuttgart, and the leather quality is amazing!

But this pair is so disappointing and I think the leather is not from calf but cow.

Navy colour is very unusual on shoes, and not very easy to pair.

Construction

Allen Edmonds is very proud of its 360 degree Goodyear construction.

The feature is stitches on welt runs all over the shoes, while most brands end at waist.

Details

Another unique aspect about McAllister is it is unlined.

The full rubber heel is iconic, but not very luxury.

Conclusion

It is rough looking, and the leather quality is not impressive. But I am lucky to own one pair of classic core collection.
