Unboxing Unlined Penny Loafer David from Carlos Santos

Unlined loafer is very popular in recent years for its advocated comfort, and Portuguese shoemaker Carlos Santos devised a model with tender colour combination to further improve your feet’s joy in summer, which is this model David. Let us have a look.

Unboxing

Hard, textured black shoe box with the silver logo in the center.

Side sticker has all the information, model number 9753, model name David is not mentioned which is not good. Leather is suede in tan colour. Goodyear construction, last 362 and size UK6.5.

Remove the cover, shoe bags, print paper and foam are there. Nothing impressive.

Last

Last 362 is the dominant loafer last among Carlos Santos offerings, and its round toe seems very Ivy style by first sight while it is much more elegant than you thought if you put it on.

Forefoot is generous and not aggressive.

Pattern

A leather clashing penny loafer, unlined with penny strap made of another leather type, in this case, upper is mainly suede while strap smooth leather. The apron formation is the most classic one and I love best.

The hollow area in penny strap is like the mask of Zoro, very stylish, which is also the iconic pattern of Carlos Santos.

The ridged edge of piping is trivial but very tasteful which will be highly appreciated by seasoned shoe enthusiasts.

Out Sole

Open channel Goodyear leather sole. The sole was painted to a lighter brown to match the light tan upper.

Construction

Welt is not coloured and stitches are in tan colour, stitch density is decent and the threads are neatly close to upper. Well executed.

Details

Except unlined construction, Carlos Santos has unique rule for suede shoes which is the half sock lining will use the same leather as upper.

Conclusion

I only have one question, does unlined loafer fit winter as well as summer? This cream leather is too lovable to miss in any season.
