Classic Menswear Is Not Classic

First of all, let’s talk about the name of this kind of clothing.

Classic menswear is my favourite, however it is simpler and more crude in China. People call it suit.

But a suit is not equal to classic menswear, which is neither a subset nor a relationship.

Because Heidi Silame’s suit can’t be regarded as classic menswear, but only fashion.

In addition to suits, classic menswear also includes chinos, cardigans, and even leather jackets.

I think the name is good because it already explains everything, they are classic and eternal.

If you buy a vintage suit which dates for decades, and you match it well, no one can tell that this suit is not current.

What is the core of classic menswear?

I think it is sustainable. Maybe you think it’s a little far-fetched, but after watching it for so long, I still think this can stand the test.

In this way, classic menswear allows you to wear them from the age 20 to 90.

We can pursue high quality, small quantity, and then make the best use of it.

But I have seen a phenomenon contrary to its connotation in the current field of classic menswear, that is, regular discounts.

There is no problem with the discount itself, which allows consumers to get great products at low cost, which is also great, but what is the reason for the regular discount?

Surplus.

On the one hand, classic menswear emphasises sustainability, and on the other hand, continuous overproduction, isn’t it a slap in the face?

Once the kernel support is lost, these statements have become tools and minions of consumerism.

If you dig further into it, it means that each brand puts profit maximisation first.

Such behaviour, even from a business point of view, is probably not right, because the general trend of this industry must be going down.

The most appropriate way to live in the industry is naturally to shrink, reduce ambition, and maintain appropriate production capacity.

Naturally, some start-up brands have not reached its own expansion limit, but I also hope to see less discounts in this field.

If there is no excess, there is no waste.
