Entreprenuership is not very strong in Japan as most industries have been controlled by the giant enterprises, and innovation is not something Japanese very good at, so you cannot find too many new companies. Japan may be the biggest dress shoe market in the whole and so many European brands make a good living there, local new brands are very rare, at least a decade ago, but nowadays, they boomed! Among which, RayMar is the most promising and impressive!
The selling point is very clear, great value. Goodyear welted for 20000 JPY, great leather, great finish. And the fact is RayMar is very similar with Chinese shoe brand Mattina (Much similar than you think).

In my opinion, RayMar shoes are all classic models with conservative lasts, the only issue is new models are releasing in an unbelievably fast path. The good thing seems everyone can find what they love, the bad thing is no iconic model will be remembered and sought after.
Anyway, it is the road Meermin had taken and succeeded, maybe RayMar will have a big success in Japan as well.
