Monk shoes are the most rare among the four major styles, Oxford, Derby, Loafer and Monk. Its formality is between Derby and Loafer, and you can even put it in Derby because its lower edge is not sealed.
Speaking of Monk, Double Buckle is undoubtedly the dominant one, the most famous of which is William of John Lobb.
Personally, I may prefer the single buckle monk, perhaps the slimmer design makes me feel more elegant.
Crockett & Jones was the first to invent this style, which is unknown to most.
