TM Lewin is a British shirt shop established in 1898. Although it has a long history, it seems that there are no heavyweights to bless it.
Now, there are a lot of Asian elements in its blood.
Its two major shareholders are Itochu of Japan and Shandong Ruyi Group.
Ruyi Group is definitely a giant in China’s clothing industry, and especially loves to buy foreign brands.
Taylor & Lodge, a fabric supplier in Huddersfield, now 80% of the shares is owned by Ruyi Group.
Ruyi also owns Harris Tweed manufacturer Carloway Fabric Factory.
Ruyi also owns shares in Bally, a Swiss luxury brand, and has deep cooperation with Zegna.
Itochu of Japan, which is ever more powerful, is a trading company focusing on the whole supply chain of clothing industry. At present, it owns Chester Barrie, a semi-custom brand on Savile Row, and then Paul Smith is actually controlled by this company.
