I am talking about comfort of classic dress shoes.
Most people see and buy dress shoes in shopping malls or online, they are all cemented. The use of gluing technology is no different from sports shoes.
Many people came into contact with welted shoes for the first time, and they tried, immediately gave up and left a comment “It is too hard”.
I’m not here to argue. I have no interest of convincing anyone that it’s not hard, or that it’s healthier for feet and even whole body. I wear sports shoes myself. After wearing classic dress shoes for a long time, I wear sports shoes one day, and I’m particularly intoxicated with the feeling of stepping on shit.
People will change, not because of what they see, but because this statement is consistent with what they already have in their hearts.
I’m just here to talk about the comfort of leather shoes I feel.
First of all, the comfort from dress shoes and sports shoes are completely in two directions. If the comfort brought by sports shoes is the space and freedom that a oversize dress gives you, the comfort brought by dress shoes is the pleasure brought by the top cashmere wrapped tightly around your body.
This is what raw materials bring, and that’s why the price of classic dress shoes is so high.
Yes, I understand that there are Goodyear shoes only asking for tens of dollars in the market, but why do you think the profit rate of shoes with thousands or even thousands is higher when everyone is not a luxury brand, that is, there is no high added value? This does not exist.
There is such a big price difference, which comes from the fineness of raw materials and workmanship, and of course includes quality control.
So what raw materials are used for classic dress shoes worth spending this money, which brings such luxury and comfort to the touch?
That’s where your feet touch.
The first is the lining. If the shoes are unlined, what you come into contact with is the reverse side of the upper leather. For authentic stitched shoes, the lining will be dyed with very delicate water calf leather, and it will be better if fetal calf leather is used.
Then there is the midsole that the forefoot stepped on, and it is vegetable tanned cowhide. The biggest advantage of vegetable tanned cowhide is that its pores are open. Therefore, it can better absorb the moisture of feet and keep feet dry. Then moderate hardness is also the key to comfort. Even for sports shoes, the hardness of the forefoot is not as soft as possible.
Finally, there is the place where the heel steps on and wraps. It is called Sock lining, and the choice of leather can be the same as that of the lining leather, or it can be less delicate and soft, because the heel is relatively less sensitive. At the place where the heel is wrapped, some use ordinary lining leather, and some use suede as lining to increase friction, so as not to slip.
Based on what I said above, I like to choose shoes with just the right size, so the moment I wear a shoehorn, I will hear a snort, which is squeezing out the air in my shoes. Then the heel stepped on the leather, and there was a refreshing feeling. Then step on the forefoot. If it is an old shoe (the old shoe is top comfortable), you can feel that the toes are all in place and the bones of the forefoot are back in its nest. Finally, stretch your toes inside and feel the package lined with leather, which is definitely the top feeling.
This feeling is precisely compared with sports shoes or normal leather shoes. The tactile sensation brought by artificial materials is incomparable with leather, a material that has been used by human beings for thousands of years.
Of course, I have to remind everyone that new shoes are uncomfortable. On the one hand, the leather of the upper is not soft enough, and it will scratch the skin of the foot when it is bent. On the other hand, the midsole is not shaped.
I am happy that short-term pain brings long-term comfort, which coincides with life’s efforts and enjoyment.
