The Capital of Italian Shoemaking

If Spanish shoemaking capital is Almansa, then Italy calls Marche.

Marche is located in eastern Italy, along the Adriatic Sea. This is a beautiful area, with rolling farmland and winding rivers. The capital is Ancona.

There are actually 500 shoe manufacturers in this small area, and they produce all kinds of shoes.

Some of them are large factories, such as the ones belonging to Prada and Tod’s, but most of them are small workshops.

These workshops are generally family businesses and focus on a niche market. Due to the limited income from making shoes, many families will plant something on the land next to them.

Because of the competition from low-cost markets, such as Asia, the workshops here are in a difficult situation.

Although Prada has a factory here, it only makes prototypes and shoes are produced in Asia.

As the shoemaking center of Italy, which well-known brands are there in Marche?

Santoni, Silvano Sassetti, Bontoni and Silvano Lattanzi are among the best. But more factories or workshops produce private labels.

In the Marche region, Montegranaro is the town with the most concentrated footwear industry.

From here, you can see the snowy mountains inland.

It is located on two hills, one is the center of the town, and the other is an industrial area in the valley, including the Prada factory aforementioned, while the other is mainly a living community.
