Before this pair, I didn’t know Yohei Fukuda named each model. In his Ready To Wear offerings there are only 4 models which I very appreciate for its conciseness. I placed a MTO model because those 4 are not my dish. Yohei Fukuda is the most sought after shoemaker nowadays, let us have a look at this pair.
Unboxing
Wooden box is missing, and these are all I got.
Shoe bags and blanket are all made of stripped tweed.
Branded tags made of museum calf are sewn on the bags. Leather tag is not rare, neither is museum calf, but this combination is great.
A spare pair of shoelaces.
Last
The most iconic last of Yohei Fukuda is square toe inherited from George Cleverley, but round toe is my eternal favorite. Yohei Fukuda only supplies two lasts. In fact the round toe is more alike almond.
The curve from instep to forefoot is unmatchable.
Pattern
Plain toe balmoral oxford.
The most traditional balmoral oxford has cap toe while this pair has none.
The feature of Balmoral is the line before laces runs through to the heel and it is admired for its cleanliness.
The true design element sits on the heel, it seems seamless heel is covered by another layer.
Outsole
As an English (I don’t mean his nationality) bespoke shoemaker, Yohei Fukuda is trained to make London waist. On this pair of MTO shoes, the waist is very understated.
Broken heel element is present.
Craftsmanship
English heel, Cuban heel with fine and aligned fudge.
Welt
The stitches are hidden to the highest level, and they are even not visible.
Stitches can be seen at the waist and the density is quite good.
But I won’t give it a high score, the reason is the fudge is too coarse and seems like diamonds.
These big diamonds do not run well with this elegant last because they are too rough.
Lasted Shoe Tree
Very luxurious wooden shoe tree.
Details
Shoe information is put on the tongue. Lake is the model name, 5E is the size and width. Date should be the delivery date.
Conclusion
Top level of Ready to Wear shoes by all aspects.
