Unboxing Single Monk 495 from J.M.Weston

This is a pair of NOS, New Old Stock, although New, but staying in the inventory for a while.

After buying, I wish I could slap myself in the face with shoes that I couldn’t possibly wear.

Marketing can be very vicious sometimes, a few points touch you and make you spend money that shouldn’t be spent.

Let’s see what I did.

Unboxing

J. M. Weston’s shoebox, extremely simple but characteristic design.

The shoes are in there, nothing else, I do not know where the original shoe bag and cloth go.

Last

Extremely long and sharp toe. Objectively speaking, the degree of harmony and aesthetic is wonderful. But they could never be the shoes I would wear.

Why would I do that? Oh, my God.

Pattern

Plain toe single monk.

The buckle side of the strap has ae rigid corner.

From the side, the slender toe goes without saying, then the instep field of vision is very low. Finally, the sole is also very thin, the whole gives a very delicate feeling.

This pair actually belongs a special collection from J.M.Weston.

In 2013, J. M. Weston launched a special Collection called the Black Tie.

Black Tie as a dress code, we can roughly interpret it as formal.

So these shoes are what J.M.Weston think would be good for a cocktail party.

There are four models in this collection.

Tassel loafer;

7-eyelet oxford.

Wholecut oxford;

Then this pair of single monk.

J. M. At last Weston showed his full French aesthetic.

180, Demi Chasse, it’s not even French! Franch is spiky!

Details

I have an article about how to interpret J.M.Weston serial numbers on lining.

The first number in the first row represents the end of the year. This is a pair of shoes made in 2013.

Second Row, first code, M7 is the last.

101 is black calfskin, 495 is this shoe style number. 90 is the construction.

I saw on that pair of double-soled shoes, is an indescribable craft, then what is 90?

Construction

I’m sure everyone knows the answer by looking at this stitches on insole. It is Blake.

The thin outsole is also indicative, but the fact that that pair of double soles is also Blake construction was a bit of a shock to me.

J.M.Weston mainly uses Goodyear construction, and it is the traditional Goodyear, which does not use canvas ribbon, but stitches the welt directly to the midsole.

It uses Blake construction as well, such the Blake version 180 is called Le Moc.

Summary

No matter whether I have Black Tie occasion to attend, this last might make me want to kill myself.
