Union Imperial is a brand, and its company is Union Royal, one of the big three Japanese shoe factories， the other two are 2nd Royal Highland and Scotch Grain.
Founded in 1954, Union Royal imported Blake construction from Italy, and learned some new technology from Italian brand Marelli, in the end, Marelli was acquired by Union Imperial.
In 2003, Soffice & Solid was released to become the mid range brand, and 2008 saw the premium brand Union Imperial. Actually, this collection had always been the pinnacle of shoemaking skills of Union Royal which won Japan Dress Show Award in 1973，74 and 75. Not it graduates from a collection to an independent brand.
As a brand, it has three collections: Premium, Prestige and Goodyear. Premium and Prestige are both handwelted, Goodyear collection are made in Vietnam which possibly by CNES.
