Everyone can tell this is a Japanese brand and it is, and the most magnificent one. Why? Otsuka was established in 1872 to import western dress shoes into Japan and commissioned Goodyear Welting machine in 1921, it is even the very first batch of shoe factories adopting Goodyear machines.
Ever since its establishment, it is the supplier to Japanese Royal family.
Japanese brands love to release various collections or sub-brand, Otsuka is not an exception.
The first and most is Otsuka, only two models bear this name, because this is their bespoke service, and its two models of Ready to Wear cost 4500 USD.
In the true Ready to Wear collection, the top level is Otsuka M5, M5 means of fifth year of Meiji era, price is around 900 USD.
There is a sub-collection under M5 called Hi Designs, which seems like the middle range, but why put it under M5? I don’t get it.
Otsuka+ is the entry level, for who just enter then society.
Otsuka Yokohama Made is made in Yokohama factory but with cement construction, I just let it go.
I only collect the models, not to differentiate the collections.
Remark
The pattern design and upper skills are quite impressive, however the other details don’t justify the price. In another hand, the marketing is too minor to promote its unique designs.
