My Shoe Collection – Clarks made by Joseph Cheaney & Son

Clarks is very famous as a middle range casual dress shoe brand alongside with ECCO and Rockport. Not so many know Clarks is an English brand with great heritage. Especially its Desert Boot is the real classic and original one. Founded in 1825, arguably one of the oldest shoemaker in UK. For its 190 year anniversary, Clarks released a limited edition with the best craftsmanship it perceives which was made by Joseph Cheaney & Son.

Let us have a look at this pair.

Last

Cheaney has a lot of lasts, and I am not so familiar with them, this one has a classic round toe but not too blunt. We can say it is classic.

Pattern

A very typical Adelaide oxford with brogues on cap toe, quarter and heel counter. The U shape quarter is wide and slightly exaggerated.

Construction

Joseph Cheaney & Son technically should rank higher than Barker and Loake these two entry level English shoes, while stitch density on the welt is not back up this notion, and the welt is blurry and not neat.

Rounded welt at the waist is a common practice in premium english shoes.

Out Sole

This is where this anniversary edition stands out, the wonderful beveled waist even rarely seen on Cheaney Imperial collection.

Details

This model actually has a name which Clarks is not used to; the name is Earls Row.

Half sock lining has the logo of original Clarks and made in England.

Conclusion

This pair is indeed quality shoes and favorable by real wearers.
