My Shoe Collection – Saint Crepin 2010 from John Lobb

Saint Crepin is the annual limited collection of John Lobb Paris to memorize the god of shoemaking. This limited collection is built on Prestige collection, I mean the basic construction and details are the same while Saint Crepin implements even more advanced techniques to show off its mastery in shoemaking.

John Lobb is very good at making beautiful shoes, Saint Crepin is not an exception but only more attractive.

The 2020 version is called Strand.

2019 is Holt as below.

Holt

I have a summary with all St Crepin shoes.

Let us check mine, version 2010. (Previously the version has no name but only year number, since 2015 they began to giving them names.)

Last

Prestige collection has a very worshiped double monk, Chapel, Saint Crepin 2010 built on the same last with Chapel, 8000.

8000 is my favorite last offered by John Lobb, square round toe is more harmony and gentle than 7000.

Pattern

Even in Saint Crepin collection, 2009 is a model highly praised because its wonderful pattern design.

Two special points on the pattern.

First, the upper is made of one whole piece of leather, it runs a circle to form the pattern.

Two, except the ankle area, you cannot find any stitches on the upper which is unheard of. I don’t see this technique used on any other shoes, no matter which shoemaker.

It is possible the lining is glued to the upper without stitch, but also John Lobb uses some magical skills to hide the threads.

The whole upper is so clean.

Details

The buckle was specially made for this limited edtion by Hermes, the shape is combining two letters of John Lobb, J and L.

Each pair of Saint Crepin has its own serial number and mine is 480 of 750.

Conclusion

Last 8000 with the most skillful pattern making, marvelous.
