Speaking about welted shoes in USA, there are a lot of players, but comparing to workboots, dress shoes manufacturers are quite weak, and the fame still holds only to two: Alden and Allen Edmonds.
In most people’s eyes, Allen Edmonds is more famous, the reason is it is more affordable and serves more people including the stepped down US president Barack Obama.
In USA, Allen Edmonds has a massive client base, but in Europe, nearly nobody buys.
Pattern
A pair of five eyelets short wingtip derby. The spectator is my creation as I burnished the toe with shoe cream and wax.
Leather
The creases at the vamp is super fine and not tired at all, oil saturation is great which gives luster.
Allen Edmonds is very proud of making the shoes in US, but they also excitedly claim all their leathers from imported from Europe.
Last
This pair is in D width, the normal width in US shoes, but it is narrow and elegant, especially for a pair of short wing.
Fit and Comfort
The fit is excellent, even it is somehow strange that I am a 6D guy.
Conclusion
Although Allen Edmonds shoes are not very exquisite, however it still is a pair of quality shoes and can serve a long time decently.
