How I Think of Austrian Shoemaker Saint Crispin’s

I believe most shoe lovers have heard of this brand, and some are so keen of it. Saint Crispin’s makes Austria known as a shoemaking hotspot in middle Europe.

Saint Crispin’s has its shoes made in Romania which does not affect its attractiveness.

I am triggered by three aspects.

Price

I know its price is super high and not affordable to many, however as an Austrian premium brand, this price attracts right customers who had tried most of the high end brands on the market.

Wood Pegged

When I bought my first pair of Saint Crispin’s, I had no idea what I want, maybe just for the fame, but when I held them on my hand, the wood pegged waist hit me very badly, it is so beautiful!

Some argue that wood pegged is an inferior construction to save time and labour, the wood could fall off. I don’t care because it is so beautiful!

Pattern Design

Saint Crispin’s has a lot of fantastic patterns and many are so unique.

I have an opinion that Saint Crispin’s has current popularity due to its absorption of Italian flavor.

Traditional Austrian shoemaking loves towering toe, square and sturdy soles. But you don’t see these on Saint Crispin’s shoes.

Most lasts of Saint Crispin’s are elongated, even for a classic round toe, such as last Classic, you can tell it has Italian origin.

I would say Saint Crispin’s aesthetics is 30% Austria and 70% Italy, and with its handwelt and wood pegged construction.

There is a brand related to Saint Crispin’s, Zonkey Boot. Its founder is the nephew of Philip Carr, the owner of Saint Crispin’s.

All in all, an Austrian shoemaker has strong beauty impact. That is most important.
