Salvatore Ferragamo plays in high street fashion field and shoes are its most iconic products. Most shoe enthusiasts won’t be very interested in Ferragamo shoes as the construction is mostly glued and price is high for its perceived prestige. However, there is one collection among its offerings is so sought after even by the most seasoned shoe lovers, Salvatore Ferragamo Tramezza Special Edition, the reason? This collection is made by Paolo Scafora.
Let us have a look at my pair.
Last
A big round toe, however elongated. I think this is an excellent example of Italian last, no matter it is round or sharp, elongation cannot be bypassed.
Pattern
As a design forward brand, I mean Salvatore Ferragamo, not Paolo Scafora, the shoes are quite Avant Garde because it is asymmetric. If you look at the inner side, you think it is a wholecut oxford, but from outer, it has quarter. Quite interesting design, not too exaggerated, while still eye catchy.
Construction
Paolo Scafora is very famous for its Norwegese construction. Looking at the double stitched on the upper, the thread is quite coarse and prominent, I think the aesthetics is what Paolo Scafora pursues. To me, the more impressive point is the well executed welt stitches, great quality shoes!
Leather
Top notch quality leather, the creases are so fine! Italian shoes can offer great leather!
Details
Fiddleback on a square flat out sole. Special Edition information is told here.
There is a short seam aside laces, the purpose is to attach tongue so it will not fall under.
I tried different lacing method on this pair as it can be played rough and exquisite by its odd oxford nature.
Personally I prefer the conservative method while this pair may lean to right one more.
Conclusion
Playful shoes are more suitable for watching rather than wearing, and that is not my pursuit.
