My Shoe Collection – Carlos Santos Aubercy

Why is this pair called Aubercy? Because I bought a pair of Aubercy shoes from Japan (actually OEM by Enzo Bonafe), Candy green interprets French romance and amorous feelings vividly. When I summarized the styles of various brands, I wanted to know the name of this shoe and sent an email to Aubercy official. The answer was that they don’t know.

Gradually, I felt the last was not for me, and candy green is really hard to handle within my outfit.

On the other hand, I wanted to commemorate this model, so I asked Carlos Santos to pay tribute to this pair of shoes.

This tribute is by no means a copy, because no one will say it is plagiarism when they see two pairs of shoes. Whether it is the last shape or leather, it is much easier to pair.

Let’s take a look.

Last

I chose the 397 last of Carlos Santos. Officially, it is called the almond toe.

In the current market environment, this may be the roundest almond head.

The width of the forefoot is sufficient.

Upper Pattern

The three-eyelet derby with an apron doesn’t look too special. The interesting part is the shape of the two ears of the derby.

Profile view, you can see a special place. These two ears are not on a piece of leather, but alone, so I think it is very appropriate to call it a saddle derby.

Construction

Open channel Goodyear construction.

Outfit

The suede of these shoes is called bamboo green, which is unique. Its advantage is that although it is green, it has low saturation, low profile, and the continued reduction of formality by suede leather, which makes it a very good choice in summer.

For example, when I match with red trousers, I form the effect of green leaves against red flowers.

If you can even match such a coquettish pink, you can think that the matching range of this pair of shoes is actually very wide. The pickled green trousers, white trousers and khaki are all good.

As long as you don’t choose such a formal colour as navy blue.

Comparison

I mentioned at the beginning that this pair of shoes is a tribute to the French brand Aubercy, not plagiarism. Let’s take a look at the comparison.

First of all, let’s look at the last.

Aubercy hosts a standard French last, narrow and long, with a small toe. Objectively speaking, the overall beauty is high. Carlos Santos is obviously round, short and wide.

When I asked Carlos Santos to make it, they also explicitly recommended a more similar last, but I refused.

The tribute is enough, and there is no need to copy it.

Of course, I know that the last type is more in line with the current mainstream preferences, but I’m sorry, the mainstream is nothing in my eyes.

The upper design has the same saddle shape, but Aubercy gives people more sense of refinement, while Carlos Santos feels casual and unruly.

This is indeed what I want to achieve, making this pair of shoes easier to wear.

Finally, leather. The candy green smooth leather is too eye-catching, and because the saturation is too high, it is impossible to match it with the pink trousers on it. This light green suede is much gentler and acceptable to more people.

Conclusion

A pair of tribute works that I can often wear to commemorate Aubercy’s creativity.
